Civil Hearing Representation - starting at $1000
Criminal Hearing Representation - starting at $1500
I understand that this is a lot of money for many people. If it is out of
your price range to hire a lawyer, or if you aren't facing significant fines and
insurance rate increases to justify the legal costs, you can certainly consider
fighting it yourself. There is a reasonable chance that you can at least get the
fine reduced if you dispute the ticket, and use some careful
strategies.
My exact fees depend on the complexity of the case, the number of charges,
and the number of court dates I think it will take to resolve your case.
I'm always up front about every fee, so you can plan exactly what a good
legal defense will cost you. That way you can make the best informed decision
about what you want to do with your case.
I certainly understand that hiring
an attorney was not anything you planned for. Most clients choose to pay a flat
rate for their defense. You may also
pay me by the hour, although that often ends up costing more money
overall. For a standard civil clerk's hearing in Massachusetts on a
straight speeding ticket or moving violation, I charge $1000. A successful
defense can definitely pay for itself in saved fines, and more importantly,
points on your insurance. Especially if your ticket is a second or third
offense, and you are facing a serious hike to your insurance costs, or, in the
case of a 3rd speeding ticket within a year, a 30 day license suspension. For
Massachusetts criminal traffic charges, such as Operating to Endanger, Operating
on a Suspended License, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Reckless Driving, or
Negligent Operation, my initial fee is $1500, depending on the complexity of the
case. Regardless of what you decide, an initial phone consultation with me is
always provided at no cost, and no obligation. You can learn just what your rights and options
are. If I can't convinced you that I will be able to
protect you to your complete satisfaction, then you can simply decide not
to hire me. I won't trouble you again . . . and you'll owe me absolutely nothing.
Some people choose to attempt to represent themselves without professional legal
assistance, but it can be risky, and the outcomes are much harder to predict. Good legal
representation almost always pays for itself in the results, both in saved fines
and other penalties, and your own piece of mind.
